There are many reasons why certain communities are poorly represented in the field of higher education and therefore in the upper stratum of society as well. The United Negro College Fund is probably the best known of the organizations that provide assistance to financially needy African American students. The Bureau of Indian Affairs, or the American Indian College Fund and The Hispanic College Fund are two other organizations that have done sterling work in this field. Many corporate houses also set aside some money for scholarships for these students. There is absolutely no doubt that these efforts have already borne fruit and there is increasing ethnic diversity in the corporate world. Education plays and important role in our life. It greatly helps in the growth of an individuals mind, character and physical ability.
