Elements in Considering a Military Boarding School
Posted on November 2, 2011 | Education Reference.
Most parents wish to send their son to a strong school that will provide a sturdy foundation that will allow him to grow into a productive, intelligent man. Deciding on the right school can prove to be a difficult task, as it is often hard to know just which one is right. It is also difficult to know what their child will do during the school day. Schools might look promising during visits and in brochures, which may give parents comfort that they have made the right choice.
Many parents elect to send their sons to military boarding schools as an alternative to traditional public and private schools. There are many reasons that parents choose to do this. Military schools often have a very strong reputation, and many have been around for many decades, so their curriculum and methods of teaching have been proven for years to work. The sense of tradition, respect and honor that exists at most military boarding schools is prominent, and the values that these schools can instill into boys as they grow into young men is essential in character development and growing up.
Military schools with an academic emphasis can provide strong and intellectually stimulating learning environments for teen-age boys. Many experienced and knowledgeable teachers are drawn to these types of learning institutions for their solid reputations and the high caliber students that attend them. Additionally, the principals and other administrative personnel at these institutions are often also top rate, and frequently come from extremely successful schools with years of administration experience under their belts. There are often many unique opportunities offered at these institutions that boys simply wouldn’t have access to in more traditional types of education.
Military boarding schools are a practical choice for parents interested in making a strong investment in their son’s education and future. Boys with such an education will develop into strong, honorable young men, and will have future opportunities to serve in strong roles in the military, be well equipped for college, and will be strong leaders in any capacity. These educational institutions have been in place for years, developing and training boys to be men that the community looks up to with high regard. They offer the best in teaching and administration, and provide exceptional learning opportunities for teens, and aid in the cultivation of talent to be put to use. Boys that attend military schools are taught to be valued members of their community for the rest of their lives.
Learning Activities For Kids
Posted on October 25, 2011 | Education Reference.
There are a lot of different things that you can do to get children interested in all sorts of things. Whether you’re looking to teach science, history, or just have an outing that will help connect things together, you will find that the world around you has a great deal of opportunity to explore. Consider the following options when you’re trying to seek out learning activities for kids. Children are curious, and they love to explore fun things, so when you’re looking at trying to teach and create, you can find that there are a few things to do. Consider the following options:
The Planets
Consider the planets for a moment, and the way you can teach children about astronomy. Take some paper and either draw out the planets in orbit, or you can use colored construction paper to create all the planets amongst a black background. This fun project will teach children how many planets there are in our solar system, and will help with the identifying of different areas in the sky.
The Constellations
The constellations are a great thing to look into for creating an art project that a child can learn. When looking at options, consider taking a black piece of construction paper, and poke out several different points. You’ll have a starry sky when you look at it with a backlight. Take a flashlight and put it underneath the paper and you’ll have a starry piece of the sky. With that in mind, take all the constellations and draw them out point-by-point, and then poke holes to create them. Then turn out the lights again, and use a flashlight that points through the paper and showcases the constellations. This will teach children the constellations and hopefully introduces children to the stars in the sky.
The Stars
The stars in the sky are bright, and if you can go through the above projects, and children are still fascinated, consider looking at the sky. The sky at midnight is an interesting thing to stare at, and alongside the above projects, this little outing can help you move forward with teaching kids the proper location of the stars in the sky above. If you have a telescope, look into getting your children to view the world through the lens of a telescope and you’ll see their eyes light up.
There are a lot of other projects that you can explore in regards to getting children to enjoy science, The beautiful skies are amazing, and getting children curious about the outdoors is as easy as making a couple of projects, and then showing them the real thing. The real stars in the sky are amazing, and if you don’t live near a place where you can get a clear view of the skies, take children camping and have them look through the trees and watch the stars. If you’re careful, you might be able to show them a shooting star, which is something amazing to say the least. The learning activities for kids above can just be a tipping point.
